Spring Break in Florida!

The Edgewood College softball team spent their spring break in Florida at the Gene Cusic Classic and brought home a record of 6-3. After dropping their first two games, the Eagles won six in a row, their longest win streak since 2008.

The Eagles flew out of Milwaukee and continued a tradition on the ride to the airport from Madison. All freshman picked out a number for their karaoke single and serenaded the team.

After a long week, the team was rewarded with a day off. The Eagles hit the beach and then went out for dinner at Bahama Breeze. There is not enough room in this post for all of the pictures and selfies that were taken, but here are a few samples...

Edgewood College is scheduled to kick off their conference schedule the weekend of March 29 in Illinois. The Eagles play Benedictine University on Saturday and then Aurora on Sunday, March 30. Hopefully the weather will cooperate! Live stats can be found on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.

Paralympian Jaster featured on NBC-15

Most Edgewood College student-athletes probably don't realize there's an international caliber track and field athlete walking around among them. He's even got the medal to prove it.

Edgewood College assistant track and field coach Dana Jaster competed in the 1992 Paralympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. He represented the United States of America in the long jump, high jump and the 4x100 meter relay and claimed a silver medal.

Jaster attended Edgewood College in the 1980's and returned to school more recently, completing his Bachelor's Degree in 2006. He currently serves as an assistant coach to Bethany Brewster and the men's and women's track and field teams. He also recruits the Midwest looking for future Paralympians.

WMTV-NBC15 recently caught up to Jaster to talk about his experiences in 1992. See the story here:

What I did on my summer vacation...

Edgewood College sports information graduate assistant Travis Chell loves baseball. He played at another NAC school whose mascot is a giant fish. He still plays for his local hometown team in the summer. So when Travis got the chance to particiapte in a halftime contest at the Madison Mallards game, he was ready to go. He certainly could run from home plate to third base in a respectable time, right? If only he had been wearing cleats, he might have....

(Make sure the volume is up. You don't want to miss hearing the crowd reaction.)
